In a special tribute this Friday, friends and former students of the late James W. Silver, a controversial history professor at the University of Mississippi and author of the groundbreaking 1964 book, “Mississippi: The Closed Society,” will remember his life and work
as a fierce opponent of repression during the civil rights era. The event will be held on campus at the Overby Center in the auditorium from 5:00 pm until 6:00 pm. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dawn M. Jeter at 662-915-1692. Click here for Dr. Silver’s New York Times Obituary.
